Our Story
Chuma and Rebecca were mutual followers on Twitter. They shared similar ideas and Chuma was very knowledgeable about African culture as he and his family are Nigerian. On September 20th, 2020, Rebecca messaged Chuma asking for advice on relocating to Africa. It was the middle of the pandemic lockdown and she really needed an escape. From there, a simple question turned into 3 weeks of funny, gentle, and intellectual conversations. Eventually, they exchanged numbers and after one month of getting to know each other they went on their first date. It was Halloween night in New York City. The date was so amazing that Chuma and Rebecca became inseparable. They eventually decided that they wanted to escape together. After only two months of knowing each other Rebecca and Chuma moved to Cape Town, South Africa together for 6 months. For those 6 months they grew in love together. Once they returned to America, they both knew that they wanted to spend every moment of life together. On November 30, 2021 Chuma took a big step and asked Rebecca to be his wife. The rest was history. Exactly two years since that first DM, they’re gathering with family and friends in Philadelphia On Sept. 17th, Rebecca's Paternal grandmother's birthday and hometown, to celebrate the love they grew to deeply know with family and friends in a way that they wouldn’t have been able to imagine with anyone else.
